How bad are the parts costs though? Too lazy to check right now. Have a feeling any 944 I get I'm going to have to replace the water pump, belts, and find a way to tackle the common tensioner problem.

I'm going to get so flamed for this, but honestly every post you make comes off as pretentious as fuck. I don't think you do it on purpose, but its just the way you word things on the internet. Just a warning. I'd start second guessing things before you post them sometimes.

That's the thing that's special about mine....They were already done hehehe. ;)

Belts are cheap, water pump is a bit pricey, if you can't do any work yourself, you'll be screwed. Tensioner problem depends on the year honestly

Maintenance on the 944 can't be as bad as 996 IMS replacement right? Luckily I'm starting to get into car mechanics because of the Jeep. And most of my friends are good at working on cars.

Why would you think you'd get flamed for it? It's an honest opinion. It's what the internet does to people, writing posts is only a small door into the life of a real person; especially posts like mine. It never really occurred to me that's how it sounded, now this one may have definitely had a pretentious vibe to it, especially with my last sentence at the bottom, I saw it as more of a joke. I can't think of any earlier examples where I may have been pretentious? Sorry about that.

On a lighter note as well, does this mean that I'm becoming the new Demuro? :D

Well the thing is that the cars aren't unreliable, the maintenance intervals are just not as long as other cars and the major wear parts are rather pricey is all. As long as you keep to the recommended maintenance intervals and schedule, you'll be just fine. But do find a car with records of work, or you'll be going in blind.

Not that long, but it's a long short story of sorts.

When I first joined Oppo last November, I was planning on buying my uncle's '85.5 944. When my Astra at the time broke down and I needed a new car(FoST), I didn't see the need for a 944. I decided again to find a 944 for myself in the summer. I got really lucky and found mine in about a month after I restarted my search. Bought it a couple months later in August. The reason I found it was because the 911 broke down and I went online to a Porsche forum to ask for help, met a guy local from there, and his brother in law was selling the 944. :)
